Aeration

TIME FOR AN AERATION

Tis the season for an aeration.  An aeration removes small plugs of dirt to allow nutrients, water, sunlight, and air to get straight to the root system.  Many claim that an aeration is the secret weapon to a beautiful lawn.

PRE-EMERGENTS

NOW is the time to start a weed control program! We are currently applying the second pre-emergent of the year. These pre-emergents will keep those pesky broadleaf weeds from coming up in the spring.

Applications should be watered in within 14 days and before you mow (unless you mulch).

Tired of Pulling Weeds in Your Flower Beds?

Now is the time for a Flower Bed Pre- Emergent!  The application is about 70-80% effective.  These applications will not harm your flowers, bushes, or trees.  The weed control for flower beds program consists of 3 pre- emergents with the first being applied at the beginning of the year with round 1.  Additionally during the summer when we are applying the lawn applications, we will also spray any grassy weeds that pop up in your flowerbeds.

TREE AND SHRUB PROGRAM

We are now applying the first of a series of 4 applications for your trees and shrubs.  This first application is a deep root fertilizer.

Watering Your Lawn

For our lawns, the goal is one inch of water per week. For now, "Mother Nature" is giving us plenty of rain.  But it won't be long and many of you will be turning on your irrigation system. Psst...Did you know we can service/repair your irrigation system also?

Spray Weeds

Do You Have Green, Yellow, & Purple Weeds?

Now is the perfect time of year to start a lawn care program.  The backbone to any lawn care program are the pre-emergents that keep many weeds from coming up in the Spring. Additionally our post-emergent will kill many of the weeds that have already bloomed in your lawn.   Pre-emergents should be watered in within 14 days after treatment

Are You Tired of Pulling Weeds in Your Flowerbeds?

We have a flowerbed weed control program that works much like our lawn weed control program.  It is about 70-80% effective and it will not harm your flowers, trees, or shrubs.  Let me know if you would like a FREE estimate.

Aeration in April

An aeration removes plugs of dirt to allow water, air, and nutriets to go straight to the root system. Many believe an aeration is the secret weapon to a beautiful healthy lawn.

How did your lawn fare during the 100 degree temps?

Worst case scenario - You gave up, stopped watering, and lawn went dormant.  Not the best option, but the lawn will pop right back.  It is VERY important to get rounds 4 & 5 (fertilizer and weed control) on your lawn.  Your lawn needs the nutrients to recover from the heat stress before it goes dormant for the winter.  If lawns are not "fed and watered" before the winter, the results will be more weeds and a thinner lawn next spring.

Best case scenario - You fertilized and watered (30-45 minutes per zone every other day) during the extreme heat.  You may have seen a little heat stress at the end of the 100 degree temps, but overall your lawn stayed green and thick.  Great job!

Suggestions for Next Summer
1. Don't skip any of the summer fertilizers.  Think of the recent Olympics.  Maintaining a lawn is like playing any sport.  Your lawn needs to be fed and hydrated properly during our Oklahoma summers if you want to "win the gold (green)".

2.  Consider installing an irrigation system.  As a homeowner, this was the BEST investment!  It saves me so much time as I no longer spend most mornings/evenings moving the water hose.  So easy to give different areas exactly the amount of water it needs.  No worries when I go on vacation!

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER - Overseeding & Aerations

Overseeding -- If you have bare spots in your yard due to an area receiving too much shade, possibly from large trees or other structures, overseeding with fesque would be a good option for these areas.  We overseed in the fall as fesque is a "cool season grass" and this gives the new grass time to get established before the next hot summer.

AerationFall Aeration - Many prefer to aerate the lawn in the fall to assist the lawn in recovering after a hot summer.  An aeration consists of removing small plugs of dirt to allow nutrients, air, water, sunlight to go directly to the roots. Cost - double lawn application price.
